How to Make a Fresher Resume With No Experience

How a fresh graduate can write a one-page resume for a first job, with an example and a free resume builder that needs no sign-up.

A one-page fresher resume with summary, education and projects

You have finished your studies and you are applying for your first job. Your resume has no work history, and that worries most people. It should not. Employers who hire freshers expect this. What they look for is proof that you can learn and finish things. This guide shows how to show that on one page. If you are still studying, the student resume guide covers that stage.

Start with the job ad

Read the job ad before you write anything. Note the three or four skills it asks for most. Your resume should show those skills early, with evidence, if you have it. A fresher resume that matches one job well works better than a general one that fits nothing.

Write a summary with a target

Two lines is enough. Say what you studied, what role you want, and one thing you can do. For example: "Recent accounting graduate looking for a junior accountant role. Comfortable with Excel and basic bookkeeping." It tells the reader straight away what the page is for.

Your final-year project is your best experience

If you did a final-year project, give it its own entry. Write what the problem was, what you did, which tools you used and what came out of it. If you worked in a group, say which part was yours. This is often the most useful thing on a fresher resume, so do not hide it under a single line.

Internships, training and volunteering

An internship of one month still counts. So do short courses, a training programme, a student society role or event volunteering. Put each one in with the dates and one or two bullets about what you did.

Example (made up, for illustration only)

This is an invented sample, not a real person.

  • Name and title: Sample Name, Junior Accountant
  • Summary: Recent BCom graduate looking for a junior accountant role. Comfortable with Excel, basic bookkeeping and month-end checks.
  • Education: BCom, Sample University, 2021 to 2025. GPA 3.2.
  • Final-year project: Small business bookkeeping study. Recorded one year of sales and expenses for a local shop in Excel and wrote a short report on where costs could be cut.
  • Internship: Accounts intern, Sample Trading Co., 6 weeks, 2025. Entered invoices, matched bank statements and filed receipts.
  • Skills: Excel, bookkeeping, invoice entry, English and Urdu.

Building it in the Resume Builder

Open the Resume Builder, replace the sample details, and fill the Summary tab first. Put your final-year project and internship in the Projects and Experience tabs. Add your skills in groups. Choose the Classic or Minimal template, check that it fits one page in the preview, and save it as a PDF. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. For a walk through every tab, read the Resume Builder guide. Once you have a few years of work behind you, move on to the experienced professional resume guide.

What to leave out

  • A long objective paragraph about your dreams.
  • School results from many years ago, unless the job asks for them.
  • Hobbies that have nothing to do with the job.
  • Skills you have only read about.
  • A creative layout that is hard to read.

Questions and answers

What do I write if I have no experience at all?

Write about your studies, your final-year project, any course or training, and volunteer work. Hide the Experience section in the builder if there is nothing to put in it.

Should my resume be one page?

Yes. For a first job, one page is the right length. If it runs over in the preview, remove the weakest lines.

Can I change the template after I have typed everything?

Yes. Your details stay the same when you switch between the five templates, so you can try them all before choosing.

Will my resume be saved if I come back tomorrow?

No. The builder does not store anything. Save the PDF, and keep your text in a note if you want to edit it later.

Ready to try it?

Open the tool, follow the steps above, and use the final result in your US marketplace, website, document, report, or personal workflow.
