Count down to any date and time

This event countdown shows how much time is left until a date and time you choose. It counts down live in days, hours, minutes and seconds, so you always see the exact time remaining for a birthday, launch, exam, trip or holiday.

How to use it

1. Type a name in Event Name. This is optional and only shows above the timer.
2. Pick the Target Date.
3. Set the Target Time. It starts at 00:00, which is midnight at the start of that day.
4. The countdown starts at once and updates every second.

How it works

The tool joins your date and time into one moment in your device's local time zone. Every second it subtracts the current time from that moment. The difference is split into whole days, then hours, minutes and seconds. Hours, minutes and seconds are shown with two digits, such as 05.

When the target moment is reached, or if you pick a date in the past, the timer is replaced by a message that says your event has arrived. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

Tips

• For an event that starts in the evening, set the exact time. Otherwise the countdown ends at midnight.
• The count uses calendar days, weekends included. It does not skip business days or holidays.
• Your event is not saved. If you reload the page, enter the date and time again.
• Keep the tab open to watch the timer. It always shows the true time left, based on your device clock.

Frequently asked questions

Which time zone does the countdown use?

It uses the time zone set on your device. Someone in another time zone who enters the same date and time will count down to a different moment.

Can I count down to a date years away?

Yes. There is no upper limit on days. The Days box simply shows a larger number.

Does it count business days only?

No. It counts all days, including weekends. Use a business days calculator if you need to leave out weekends.
