About this tool

Plan your monthly budget in one place

This budget planner adds up your income and expenses and shows your monthly balance. It also shows your savings rate, a status (Surplus, Balanced or Deficit) and a breakdown of where your money goes. It is a simple way to start budget tracking without a spreadsheet.

How to use it

  1. Pick a currency symbol: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AED or INR.
  2. Edit the sample income rows or click + Add Income. Give each row a label, an amount and a frequency.
  3. Do the same for expenses with + Add Expense. Each row has a category, an amount and a frequency.
  4. Read the summary cards: monthly income, monthly expenses, balance and status.
  5. Check the expense breakdown and the budget allocation bar. Click Reset All to go back to the sample data.

How it works

Every amount is turned into a monthly figure. Monthly amounts stay the same. Yearly amounts are divided by 12. One-time amounts are also divided by 12, so they are spread across a year. Rows that are not monthly show the "≈ per month" value under them.

  • Balance = monthly income − monthly expenses.
  • Savings rate = balance ÷ monthly income × 100.
  • Status is Surplus if the balance is more than 1, Deficit if it is less than −1, and Balanced otherwise.

The expense breakdown lists each category from largest to smallest, with its monthly amount and its share of total expenses. The allocation bar shows how much of your income goes to expenses and how much is left as savings.

Tips

  • Enter yearly bills, such as insurance, as yearly. The tool works out the monthly cost for you.
  • The currency setting only changes the symbol. It does not convert amounts.
  • Your rows are not saved. If you reload the page, the sample data comes back, so note your numbers before you leave.

Frequently asked questions

How are one-time expenses counted?

A one-time amount is divided by 12 and added to each month. This spreads the cost over a year instead of putting it all in one month.

What does the savings rate mean?

It is the part of your monthly income that is left after expenses, shown as a percentage. If expenses are higher than income, the tool shows how far over budget you are.

Is my budget data sent anywhere?

No. All the math runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. The data is also not stored, so it is cleared when you reload the page.
