About this tool

Calculate your CGPA with credits

This CGPA calculator works out a credit-weighted grade point average for any number of subjects. You can enter letter grades, marks, or grade points directly, and choose from several country grading scales or a custom scale.

How to use it

  1. Choose a grading system: India (10-point), United States (4.0), Pakistan (HEC-style 4.0), Canada (4.33), Australia (7-point), United Kingdom (4.0 equivalent) or Custom.
  2. Choose an input method: letter grades, marks / percentage, or direct grade points.
  3. For each subject, enter the credits and the grade, marks or points. Use Add Subject for more rows.
  4. Read your CGPA, approximate percentage, total credits and standing.

CGPA formula

CGPA = Σ (grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits

Example on the India 10-point scale: A+ (9) in a 4-credit subject, A (8) in a 3-credit subject and B+ (7) in a 3-credit subject.

(9 × 4 + 8 × 3 + 7 × 3) ÷ 10 = (36 + 24 + 21) ÷ 10 = 8.1.

Subjects with zero credits or missing values are left out.

How marks are converted

In marks mode, your score is turned into a percentage and then into grade points using the bands of the chosen country. For the custom scale, the percentage is converted in a straight line (for example 80% on a 10-point scale = 8).

70–79%A8

Universities set their own bands, so check that these match yours.

Frequently asked questions

How is the percentage equivalent calculated?

It is CGPA ÷ scale × 100, so 8.1 out of 10 shows as 81%. Some boards use a different rule, such as multiplying a 10-point CGPA by 9.5, so use your institution's official formula when it matters.

What does the standing label mean?

It is based on CGPA as a share of the scale: 90% or more is Outstanding, 80% Excellent, 70% Very Good, 60% Good, 50% Satisfactory, and below that Needs Improvement.
