This date difference calculator tells you exactly how much time lies between two dates. You get the gap in years, months and days, plus total days, total weeks, total months, total hours and total minutes. It is useful for any date range, such as 12 Oct 2022 to 30 Jun 2025.

How to use it

1. Pick a start date. It starts set to today.
2. Pick an end date.
3. Read the difference. Use Swap Dates to reverse them — the order does not change the result.

How it is calculated

• Total days = the number of days from the start date to the end date. The start day is not counted as an extra day, so 1 Jan to 2 Jan is 1 day.
• Years, months and days are counted by calendar: whole years first, then whole months, then the remaining days.
• Total weeks = total days ÷ 7, with the leftover days shown separately.
• Total hours = total days × 24, and total minutes = hours × 60.

Worked examples

In the first example: 12 Oct 2022 to 12 Oct 2024 is 2 years, to 12 Jun 2025 is 8 more months, and to 30 Jun 2025 is 18 more days. Total months = 2 × 12 + 8 = 32, total hours = 992 × 24 = 23,808.

What it does not do

• It counts calendar days only. It does not skip weekends or holidays, so it is not a business days calculator.
• It works with whole dates, not times of day.

Frequently asked questions

Does the result include the end date?

No. If you want to count both the start and the end day, add 1 to the total days.

Are leap years handled?

Yes. The day count follows the real calendar, so 29 February is included whenever it falls inside your range.

Can I count backwards to a past date?

Yes. Enter the dates in any order; the calculator always shows the positive gap.
