About this tool

Preview social share cards and write OG tags

This Open Graph preview tool shows roughly how a link could look when shared, based on the title, description and image you type. It draws a Twitter / X style card and a Facebook / LinkedIn style card, and it writes the matching meta tags for you to paste into your page. It does not fetch or read an existing web page. It only uses the values you enter.

How to use it

  1. Enter the page Title.
  2. Enter a Description. A counter shows how many of the 160 allowed characters you have used.
  3. Paste a public Image URL. A size of 1200 × 630 pixels is recommended.
  4. Add the Site Name and the page URL.
  5. Check both previews, then select and copy the Generated meta tags into your page's <head>.

How it works

The previews update as you type. The domain shown on the cards comes from the URL field. If you leave out https://, the tool adds it to read the domain. The Facebook / LinkedIn card shows the image on top in a 1.91:1 frame, with the site name (or the domain if empty), the title and the description below. The Twitter / X card is a compact layout with the image on the left. Long titles and descriptions are cut to two lines, as many platforms do.

The tags written for you are:

TagValue
og:title, og:description, og:url, og:site_nameYour entries
og:image, twitter:imageYour image URL, or an example.com placeholder if empty
og:typeAlways website
twitter:cardAlways summary_large_image
twitter:title, twitter:descriptionSame as the OG title and description

The tool runs in your browser. The only network request is your browser loading the image from the URL you pasted.

Tips

  • Use an absolute image URL that starts with https://. Social sites cannot load relative paths.
  • Replace any double quote in your title or description with &quot;. The tool does not escape quotes, and a raw quote would break the tag.
  • Real platforms change their card designs and cache old previews. Use each platform's own debugger to refresh a link after you update your tags.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter a URL and see its current OG tags?

No. The tool does not visit the URL. Type the values in yourself, or copy them from your page's source code.

What image size works best for Open Graph?

1200 × 630 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio, is the common size for Facebook, LinkedIn and large Twitter / X cards.

Why is the description limited to 160 characters?

The field stops at 160 characters to keep the text short. Most platforms only show the first one or two lines anyway.
