About this tool

Free website SEO audit

This SEO audit tool checks a website for the on-page and technical problems that hold rankings back. Enter a URL and get an overall score, scores per category, a list of top issues and a page-by-page breakdown — then export the report as PDF or Excel. No account is needed.

Two ways to audit

  • Smart Crawl — audits the home page plus up to 4 internal pages linked from it (5 pages). Fast and good for a first look.
  • Sitemap Scan — reads your XML sitemap (from robots.txt or common locations) and audits up to 50 pages with a progress bar.

What the audit checks

Each page is scored on 23 checks in four groups. High-impact checks count more than minor ones, and warnings earn half marks.

  • Core SEO — HTTP status, title length (30–60 characters), meta description length (120–160), canonical tag and noindex.
  • Content quality — exactly one H1, heading order, word count, internal links and generic anchor text such as “click here”.
  • Technical SEO — HTTPS, mobile viewport, language and charset, valid JSON-LD structured data, Open Graph and Twitter tags, URL depth, clean slugs and favicon.
  • Media and links — image alt text, lazy loading, broken links, insecure http:// links and unsafe target="_blank" links.

Site-wide checks cover robots.txt, sitemap.xml, duplicate titles, meta description and H1 coverage, broken links, alt text and average word count.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SEO audit really free?

Yes. There is no sign up and no limit on the number of audits.

Why can some pages not be audited?

The page must return HTML and be publicly reachable. Pages behind a login, private network addresses and non-HTML files are skipped.

How often should I run an SEO audit?

Run one after every major site change and at least once a month, and fix high-impact issues first.
