Convert an image to PNG, JPG or WebP
This image format converter changes one image into PNG, JPG or WebP. You choose the target format and quality, convert, compare the old and new file sizes, and download the result. The conversion happens in your browser, so your image is not uploaded.
How to use it
- Drop an image on the upload area, or click it to browse.
- Choose a Target format: PNG, JPG or WebP.
- Set the Quality from 10 to 100. The default is 90.
- Click Convert Image.
- Check the size and preview, then click Download Converted Image.
How it works
The tool draws your image onto an HTML canvas at its original width and height. It then exports the canvas in the new format with the browser's built-in encoder. The downloaded file keeps your original name with the new extension, for example photo.webp.
Any image type your browser can open can be used as input, such as PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF.
Which format to pick
| Format | Good for | Notes in this tool |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | Screenshots, logos, graphics | Lossless. Keeps transparency. The quality setting has no effect. |
| JPG | Photos | Lossy. Transparent areas are filled with white. |
| WebP | Web images | Lossy, uses the quality setting, keeps transparency. |
Tips
- Lower quality gives a smaller JPG or WebP file. Values around 75–85 are often a good balance for photos.
- Converting a JPG to PNG usually makes the file bigger, not smaller.
- The canvas re-encodes the pixels, so EXIF data such as camera details is not copied to the new file.
- An animated GIF becomes a still image of its first frame.

Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is read and converted with your browser's canvas, and the download is created on your device.
Does converting change the image size in pixels?
No. The output has the same width and height as the original. Only the file format and file size change.
Why does my JPG have a white background?
JPG cannot store transparency, so the tool fills transparent areas with white before saving. Choose PNG or WebP to keep them clear.
