About this tool

Rotate or flip an image in seconds

This image rotator turns a picture 90 degrees left or right and flips it horizontally or vertically. You see the result right away and can download it as a PNG file. It is a quick way to fix a sideways photo or make a mirror image.

How to use it

  1. Drop an image on the upload box, or click it to choose a file.
  2. Click Rotate Left or Rotate Right to turn it 90°. Click again to turn it further.
  3. Click Flip Horizontal to mirror it left to right, or Flip Vertical to mirror it top to bottom. Click again to undo a flip.
  4. Check the preview, then click Download Image.

How it works

The tool draws your image on an HTML canvas in your browser. For a quarter turn it swaps the width and height, so nothing is cropped. Rotation and flips are applied together each time you click, so you can combine a turn and a flip before you download. The image is never uploaded to a server.

Options

ButtonEffect
Rotate LeftTurns the image 90° counter-clockwise
Rotate RightTurns the image 90° clockwise
Flip HorizontalMirrors the image left to right
Flip VerticalMirrors the image top to bottom

Tips

  • To rotate 180°, click Rotate Right twice.
  • Flip Horizontal is the one to use for selfies that look reversed.
  • The download is always a PNG named after your file with _rotated added. A PNG of a large photo can be bigger than the original JPG.
  • The canvas keeps full pixels, but photo metadata such as EXIF is not copied to the new file.
  • To rotate many images at once, use our bulk image rotator.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate by a custom angle, like 45 degrees?

No. The tool rotates in 90° steps only, which keeps the image sharp and uncropped.

Will rotating reduce the image quality?

No. Turns of 90° and flips move pixels without resampling, and PNG is a lossless format.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is read and processed in your browser, and the file is saved straight to your device.
